Reflexology & Reiki
Holistic treatments for a healthy life
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves the application of pressure to specific areas of the feet called reflexes. It is based on the premise that stimulation of reflexes creates a nerve pathway connecting with specific organs, glands, and systems of the body. Stimulating reflexes allows the body to achieve balance, adapt, strengthen, and regain homeostasis, which means that the organs, glands and systems in the body are all working together and at their best.
We recognize that many of the health issues and concerns that we experience are linked to nervous and physical tension. Reflexology is used primarily to relieve stress and produce deep therapeutic relaxation. By reducing stress and tension, reflexology improves blood and lymph circulation, strengthens the functioning of the immune system, improves assimilation of nutrition and elimination of toxins, and calms the nervous system. In these ways, reflexology facilitates the body’s natural healing processes and thereby enhances the body’s health and vitality.
In countries all over the world reflexology is quickly being embraced for its provision of enhanced health, profound relaxation and pleasure, coupled with its inherent simplicity and harmless nature.
Reiki is a natural hands-on healing method that originated in Japan and means universal life force energy. This non-physical healing energy is spiritually guided life force energy. Reiki works with the subtle vibrational energy field that surrounds and penetrates the physical body. The practice of Reiki guides this “Ki,” or life force energy. This is a natural form of compassionate healing that assists body, mind and spirit in attaining its own highest level of wellness
The natural healing energy flows through the hands of the Reiki practitioner who acts as a channel to conduct and direct the energy to the client. Reiki is not a tool for the practitioner to guide and control, but rather the practitioner is a tool for the energy to move through. In reality, the practitioner is a conduit for the “Ki” that is all around us and is only helping the client access this energy.
Reiki strengthens and harmonizes the body systems, balancing the energies in the body to help reduce stress and promote relaxation. As well as the physical body, Reiki helps to heal at the emotional, mental and spiritual level. This non-invasive, completely benign healing technique is becoming more and more popular.
As western medicine continues to explore alternative methods of healing, Reiki is destined to play an important role as an accepted and valued healing practice. Reiki treatment is a supportive tool for use as a complement to conventional medicine, and is increasingly being offered in many hospitals, medical care and therapeutic settings.
